How to Get the Most Out of DeepSeek for Smarter Search Results
Share

DeepSeek, China's open-source platform, is a powerful AI-driven search engine that uses deep learning algorithms to enhance the accuracy and relevancy of search results.

Typical search engines rely on keyword matching, but DeepSeek returns contextually aware and intent-focused results.

To use it correctly, you need the right approach. A few simple steps can increase your speed and accuracy.

How Deepseek Works

DeepSeek processes information using machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) to enhance search results.

At the core of DeepSeek’s search capabilities are its proprietary AI models:

  1. DeepSeek-R1 specializes in math, coding, and complex reasoning tasks. It runs on a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, activating only a fraction of its parameters at a time to reduce computational costs. This allows it to perform at the level of OpenAI’s o1 while keeping API costs lower. While GPT-4 reportedly cost over $100 million to train, DeepSeek-R1 was trained for just $6 million using Nvidia A100 GPUs combined with lower-cost hardware.

  2. DeepSeek-V3 is optimized for business applications, particularly natural language processing and data analysis. Thus, it is suitable for use cases such as customer sentiment analysis and automated reporting.

DeepSeek’s transformer-based architecture, inspired by OpenAI’s GPT and Google’s BERT, enables it to generate human-like responses and analyze complex queries more accurately. Instead of relying only on keyword matching, DeepSeek uses semantic search to understand intent, delivering more relevant results. It learns from user interactions over time and refines search recommendations for greater accuracy.

DeepSeek has been merged with Perplexity AI, a U.S.-based deep web search engine headquartered in San Francisco, California. Perplexity specializes in real-time information retrieval and complex queries, which enable DeepSeek to evaluate enormous amounts of data more accurately.

Now that we’ve explored how DeepSeek processes information, using the right search strategies can help you take full advantage of its AI-driven capabilities.
